The derivation of the English word arena, comes from a Latin word harena which is translated to refer to the fine sand that was found in ancient arenas, such as the Colosseum in Rome, Italy. Arenas are venues where large crowds assemble for one particular purpose. It is usually an open space that is surrounded by tiered seating that provides unobstructed for all spectators.
